Founded in 1871, Handelsbanken is one of Sweden’s leading banks with over 800 branches in more than 20 countries, and nearly 12,000 employees.
Handelsbanken commenced operations in Great Britain in 1982 and now has a network of over 200 branches across the country
The branch is the bank
Our decentralised model is core to our success. Each branch operates as a local business, enabling us to make decisions locally and provide a service that is bespoke. The branch has a high degree of responsibility for costs, credit decisions and pricing. Approximately 95% of all credit decisions in Handelsbanken are made at a local level.
Handelsbanken has a different perspective from many other banks. As a relationship bank, we are driven only by what our customers need, providing tailored solutions to suit their demands. Because we are not target driven, we take a long-term view, investing time to get to know our customers, their needs and ambitions.
